Law N Pocket (“the app”, “we”, “us”) provides study material, bare acts, legal help and tools for law students, advocates and citizens in India. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and what you can do about it. By using the app you accept this policy.
The app is published by Law N Pocket, Nagpur, Maharashtra, India. For any question, or to request deletion of your data, write to raultab3005@gmail.com.
| Data | When | Why |
|---|---|---|

| Year and course | Optional, in your profile | Shown beside your name on leaderboards |
| Questions, answers and notes you post | When you post on the Student Wall | To show them to other students |

| Book listings | When you list a book in the Books Market (title, author, subject, year, condition, price, city, description) | To show your book to buyers. Your listing shows your name and city |
| Book photos | When you list a book, you take up to three photos of it with your camera inside the app (the cover is needed; an inside page and any damage are optional) | To show buyers the real book. Signed-in users of the app can see them. They are deleted when you delete the listing or your account |
| Your WhatsApp number | When you list a book | Kept apart from the listing and shown only to a buyer who opens your contact (and to moderators investigating a report), so buyers can message you |

| Purchase history | If you buy premium content or unlock a seller’s contact in the Books Market | To unlock what you paid for. For contact unlocks we keep the Google Play order number, to match it to the payment if there is a dispute |
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Approximate location only | To show local weather on the home screen. The app does not request precise location. You may refuse, and everything else keeps working. We do not store your location on our servers. |
| Game scores and progress | To show your rank on the weekly leaderboards, which other students can see |
| App activity | We record which screens and study topics are opened, and that a search was performed, together with the date and time. This tells us which subjects are actually being used so we know what to write next and what to fix. We record the words you type into a search box, but never the contents of your notes, drafts or messages. |
| Your account identifier | Attached to the activity above when you are signed in, so that we can count how many separate people used the app in a week rather than how many times it was opened. We do not use it to build a profile of you, and we do not sell it. |
| Usage statistics (Google Analytics for Firebase) | How the app is used, such as screens opened, app version and device type, with an app-instance identifier. It helps us fix problems and decide what to build. It does not include the contents of your notes, drafts or messages. |
| Notification token | If you allow notifications, Firebase Cloud Messaging gives your phone a token so we can send the updates you chose, such as new study material or news. |
| Advertising identifier and ad data | The app shows ads from Google AdMob to keep most of it free. AdMob may collect your device’s advertising ID, approximate location (from your IP address), and how you interact with ads, to show and measure ads. You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in Android Settings → Google → Ads. Students who have paid for a semester do not see ads. |
Your notes, saved drafts, scanned documents, quiz history, game progress, bookmarks (including saved Bare Act sections), reading voice and speed, language preference and study progress are stored on your phone and are not uploaded to us. They are removed when you uninstall the app. This means they do not transfer to a new phone, so export anything you want to keep.
| Permission | Used for | Can you refuse? |
|---|---|---|
| Internet | Signing in, Student Wall, online games, news, weather | No, the app needs it |
| Approximate location | Weather widget only | Yes. Everything else keeps working |
| Microphone | Exam Prep voice practice, only while you use that screen | Yes |
| Camera | Document Scanner, and taking photos of a book you list in the Books Market, only while you use those screens | Yes (you cannot list a book without a cover photo) |
| Photos and media | Choosing an existing image in Document Scanner | Yes |
Scanned documents are processed on your device and saved to your phone. They are not uploaded to us. Only the book photos you take while listing a book are uploaded. Voice practice uses Android’s own speech recognition; we do not record or store audio. “Listen” (read aloud) uses your phone’s own text-to-speech voice; the text is not sent to us.
We use the following service providers. Each receives only what it needs.
We will disclose information if required to do so by Indian law, or to protect the safety of our users.
Please read this. All notes, drafts, model answers, case summaries and other material in the app are provided for educational purposes only. They may contain errors, may be simplified, and may become out of date. Laws change and differ between States. You are responsible for verifying the content yourself against the bare Act and the reported judgment, and for consulting a qualified advocate where it matters. The app owner accepts no responsibility for any loss or consequence arising from reliance on the content.
You are responsible for what you post on the Student Wall and in the Books Market. Do not post unlawful, abusive or offensive content, pirated or photocopied books, or other people’s personal information. We may remove content and suspend accounts that break these rules. You can report or block content from within the app.
The Books Market only connects buyers and sellers. Law N Pocket is not a party to any sale: the price, payment, delivery and condition of the book are between the buyer and the seller. We do not own, inspect, sell or deliver the books, and we do not handle the book payment. Law N Pocket is not responsible for the condition or genuineness of any book, for any payment or delivery, or for any loss, fraud or dispute between a buyer and a seller. Sellers must use real photos of the book they are selling. Please follow the safety steps shown in the app, check the book before you pay, and report a listing if something goes wrong.
Any paid content, and any Books Market contact unlock, is purchased through Google Play Billing. Once a payment is made it is non-refundable, except where a refund is required by Google Play policy or by applicable law. A contact unlock pays only for seeing that seller’s number for that book; the price of the book itself is paid to the seller directly.
Purchases unlock on the device that made them. They do not currently transfer to a second device.
Delete my account, from the address you signed up with.
We will delete your account, profile, Student Wall posts, book listings (with your
WhatsApp number) and game entries within 30 days and confirm when it is done. Records
of payments may be kept where the law requires it.Data in transit is encrypted. Access to our database is restricted by security rules: you can change only your own information, and private details such as a seller’s WhatsApp number can be read only by those allowed to see them. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we do not claim otherwise, but we take measures appropriate to the kind of data we hold.
The app is made for law students, who are ordinarily 18 or older. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will remove it.
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top and, where the change is significant, tell you in the app. This page always reflects the current version. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept it.
